Our students rise above; they are amazing. Our school is in a low-income district and our resources are few, but our students don't let that hold them back. Unfortunately, as our instruments and equipment get old and start to fall apart, and electronics wear out, we are unable to replace them.
We need a new CD player because ours quit working this year right before a PTA meeting; much of our curriculum is still on CDs. I play piano, but prefer to conduct as they perform.
Our classes are also getting bigger due to increased student/teacher ratios, so I do not have enough xylophones for all students. Even with this new purchase, some students will have to share. Yet, since this is my first project, I'm starting with one.
