Flexible seating is a new concept in education that gives students choices of seats/areas that they can work best in. Students choose the area that makes them most comfortable so that they can focus on their learning. My goal is to provide 5 to 6 different areas for students to work collaboratively or independently. Rather than just the traditional desk, I want to provide options like floor seating on mats with trays, stools, standing areas, cushions and more!
Flexible seating will allow my students to choose the area that will enhance their learning! Some students have difficulty sitting still and can focus more strongly when they are able to wobble, stretch, stand, or even lay down. With flexible seating and a strategic classroom management plan, I will help meet this need of my diverse learners and help them to be more successful!
