A lover of Science and one who teaches a wonderful and diverse group of 120 - 6th graders in Bowie, MD. My classroom is truly a microcosm of America, as well as an interactive living lab. The demographics consist of Black, White, Asian, Indian and Latino students ranging in age from 11-12 years old, composed of two honors, one comprehensive, and one inclusion class. During this school year's living lab my students have become explorers and investigators of states of matter, rocks, the scientific method, weathering, earthquakes, volcanoes, magnetism, energy, electricity, ecology, biomes, ecosystems, waves, light, sound and the foundations of chemistry. I am a co-ordinator of a career and mentoring program for medical scholars entitled, "Mentoring in Medicine." This preparation program exposes youth hands on experiments, labs and discussion. In closing, I'm trying to be the "black" Bill Nye!!
