My students are creative and talented kids who are high achievers in all academic areas. They have a rich background in Science and Arts and are all studying in a bilingual (English/Spanish) academic setting.
The majority of the students are first-generation students who live in a low-income area and come from single-family homes. In many cases, the students are immigrants themselves who are becoming the only literate members of their family. With the support from my colleagues and the various programs that we offer to our families, our students are able to focus on their academics and fully engage in their studies despite the economic challenges that are faced at home.
