Many of my students struggle to read grade level material while in their general education classroom. My goal in this project is to provide my students with high interest books that are more approachable for their current reading levels, while also giving them an option to challenge themselves with more well known selections.
Often times, my students arrive in my classroom feeling defeated due to frustrations with their grade level work. Funding this project will allow me to give my students an opportunity to experience independent success in reading with books that address subjects they enjoy. In addition to building a more approachable library for my students, these new books will supplement and replace sections of my classroom library that are tired, outdated, and struggle to engage the students who enter my classroom every day.
