Most recently, the mini fridge that we have in our specialized classroom has stopped working. This is a place where the students store their lunches or snacks for the day. Food is important to these young men and having a place to make sure that it is kept at the right temperature is important. I have taken a lot of my own personal money to provide snacks and to have necessary classroom supplies. Being that it is at the end of the year, I do not have enough personal funds to supply my classroom with the amount of snacks or proper storage that is needed for learning. Within my classroom, there are 7 students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. They are very routine oriented and do not like change. Currently I have them place their food in the staff lounge with the other classroom teacher's lunches. This has been problematic and a new fridge for the classroom would help them get back on track for the end of the school year.
