This rug will be used in my classroom as apart of flexible seating. Flexible seating is a new way of setting up one's classroom. Rather than traditional desks, I am providing rugs, couches, dining room tables, bistro tables, and even a futon for my students. However, since I teach at a middle school, I am the first teacher to implement this practice and therefore, need to fund flexible seating myself.
I am trying to create a comfortable learning environment for my students. I have seen the benefits of flexible seating in other classrooms, especially during reading and writing time. My goal is to create a "coffee shop" feel, where students are relaxed and confident.
