My students will be using the motion detectors to predict, record, and analyze their own motion, as well as the motion of objects in the classroom. These motion detectors work with graphing calculators which we already have, by collecting motion data. We will study position, distance, speed, velocity, and acceleration among other physics applications. This will allow students to connect and apply their learning in my classroom.
Understanding increases when students are involved in applying their learning using hands-on methods. These motion detectors allow students to drive the learning process and see in an immediate way the effect mathematics has on their everyday lives.
