The Arts are a dying subject in most schools, and are increasingly harder to get funded. My students have been working with paper, crayons and colored pencils for practically every project they complete. Once in a while, we get to paint. My goal is to give my older students a medium to work on that is not just flat, like paper, but a 3 dimensional surface to create a work of art. Students will use these face masks to create a project that tells us about who they are. They will draw from their life experiences, their family, their culture or wherever their imagination takes them.
