My students are in need of supplies for engaging literacy center activities. My kindergarten friends come in every morning motivated, excited to learn despite the conditions they live in.
This project will give my scholars the opportunity to learn through hands on literacy activities.
Each day we engage in a rotation of literacy centers to increase writing skills, alphabet practice, phonemic awareness, and reading skills. These centers all are in place to help close the achievement gap in reading and language arts. Book bins will be used so that students can have there own place to store a variety books of different genres at there own individual reading level. I will use the Alphabet and Phonemic Activity tins to work in small groups with my scholars. The Phonemic and Alphabet Activity tins will help students to identify their letters and sounds. Each child will have opportunities to practice writing their letters with the Write and Wipe Alphabet Practice card set. The set of Classroom Magnetic letters will be used to spell simple words in small groups with scholars. The Beginning Sounds Instant Learning Center will be used to help students isolate and identify the beginning sounds in words. These activities will help my scholars build a foundation before they learn to read this year.
