My graphic design classroom is outfitted with the bare minimum of technology, but the work that my students create with what they have is remarkable! I am hoping to start the year off with new technology that will give my students an opportunity to work with tablets like many other schools already have in better funded school districts.
When my graphic design students graduate and begin their college or work training, they'll need to have had experience designing on tablets to be competitive in their field. I know my students will treasure these tablets and be amazed at how this technology can elevate the quality of their work and the impact on their process of creating work.
For years my students have meticulously scanned and cleaned up hand drawn imagery in photo editing software, or tried their best to draw with a mouse. The amount of time and effort that will be saved from editing their drawn images will be astonishing with these three tablets.
Three forty student classes of Intro to Graphic Design and one class of AP Studio Art will have the opportunity to work with these tablets, and they will have a huge impact on these many young artists.
