ART FROM THE INSIDE OUT
My wonderful students are in grades 6-8. The majority of my students are of low socioeconomic status with the majority receiving free or reduced meals. My classes have a range of students including second language learners, special education students, special day class students, and GATE students. Most of the students must walk to school. We are a Title 1 school that believes our students need and deserve quality art programs. For many of them, unfortunately, my art classes are the first time they have been exposed to art. I am currently working diligently to build the art department, with very little supplies and resources. In addition to the well researched and documented benefits of art, my students find art a very rewarding, and needed, way to learn and express themselves.
