In my Art room, students are safe and free to explore the depths of their imagination and allowed to just be a kid. I find that my classroom is much like a community. Students share the responsibility for caring for the materials. Tables are set so students can communicate easily while sharing supplies and watching each other work. Some of the best learning opportunities come from classmates working together. My classroom is filled with color and artwork. I want to inspire my students to create unique new things. Fostering a creative environment is necessary to allow them to find that idea that they will then turn into a masterpiece. Many of my students are learning English, and art creates a way of understanding between not only me and the student but the student and their classmates as well. Art is a language that is universal.
