I teach first grade students who come from low income families. Our school does not have a PTA or many resources coming in from parents. I love my kiddos and want to give them everything they need while they are at school. I have been struggling this year, however, with giving them everything they need during small group time. I have two small tables pushed together currently that only comfortably seats 4 students.
My current situation for small group makes it difficult for me to teach 6 students at one time. The children do not have enough space at my current small group area to comfortably read their books or work with math manipulatives during instruction. This makes it difficult for me to teach to their needs, or for them to be able to learn. A small group table that seats 6 would dramatically change my ability to comfortably meet with several students at once in a small group.
