These materials will help my students continue to create amazing hand embroidery projects. The hand embroidery/sewing class allows students to choose their own designs, stitch them on fabric, and turn them into small pillows or other projects. I'm amazed when I see so many middle schoolers engaged with a project that doesn't involve technology, especially some boys! Teachers have told me that instead of playing on the computer or on their phone students have asked if they can work on their stitching project. Not only does this develop and increase hand eye coordination it also fosters a sense of community when the kids actually engage in conversation with each other and are excited to help others get started on their projects. Students that aren't even in the class have been requesting to make an embroidery project!
