I am asking for two Folding Quad Camp Chairs, a boombox, six books, a Junie B. Jones Book Collection, and books on CD. The materials provided by this project would help encourage reading. Most of my students read below-grade level; therefore, I would like to provide them with opportunities where they can listen to on-grade level stories that spark their interest. By creating a "camping" themed reading center, my students will look forward to "camping out" and reading a good book.
This reading center will provide the students with opportunities to expand their vocabulary, comprehension, and reading ability. In addition, having a reading corner gives the teacher an opportunity to meet with small groups on areas that need extra support, while other students are listening to stories.
