Once I thought about it, flexible seating may be one of the best ideas for the classroom! Think about it, as adults when we're working, would we rather be sitting at a desk all day or sitting in a comfortable chair or laying on our couch? Exactly! The same applies to our kids!
These students need a comfortable environment to do their best work! My vision for flexible seating is for students to have their own space that works best for them to learn. Perfect for building reading stamina. Some students may need to move a bit while doing math problems, it helps them think. I believe the balance balls will be great for that, and as an added bonus it will improve their posture. Perhaps the couch could be an "award chair" for staying on task and working hard. Honestly, the possibilities are endless!
We all typically work better and stay more focused when we're comfortable. I want the classroom to be a place my students enjoy being in and their comfortable being in!
