I like to teach my students to get along with people who may be a little different. I ask them to sit next to someone they don't usually sit near in lunch. During the year, I may ask them to come in the room and sit according to height or birthday to change things up.
I teach mathematics, primarily, but I also love to teach reading. I read aloud to my classes and do novel studies with my homeroom. This book Wonder is so amazing! It helps kids to see how they can affect each others lives in such simple ways whether it is positive or negative. I am hoping that my students will pick up on the positive influences the characters in this book and mimic them.
