In a typical classroom, teachers assign students a seat at a desk or a table. Desks and chairs are usually the same size and type. All students are expected to perform to the best of their ability while seated in these assigned spots. Students have very little choice in this set up. However, not all students work best when confined to one type of chair or spot.
Imagine a classroom where students have the choice to select a seat that best suits their learning style. In a flexible seating classroom, students may choose to sit on a wobble chair, a balance ball, a scoop rocker, or simply a pillow on the floor. If our project is funded these seating options would not only suit my students diverse learning styles but also keep them highly engaged in achieving our learning goals.
