I want to have all kinds of learning games to reinforce these standards being taught in class: Reading Grade 3, Standard RI3.2 and RL3.2 - Students will be able to determine the main idea of a non-fiction text or the theme of a literary text conveyed through the key details of the text. These are reading skills that are required throughout life. Many students are behind in applying them to make sense of their reading. So, center time games that allow them fun ways to use these skills will be very helpful. Additionally,COVID shutdowns made phonics work very difficult.
My 3rd graders were first locked down in the spring of their first grade year. So, many are reading below grade level. The phonics games will help with standard RF3.3 - Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words, will support them in the reading that fell behind during COVID.
Also, math center games will aid in applying much needed skills for Math grade 3, standard 3.OA.A.3 - using multiplication and division within 100 as well as addition and subtraction practice.
