They are learning about different types of bugs. This will help them make the correlation between how bugs and humans are similar and different. The materials will allow them to see the life cycle of bugs and insects.
The specimens will allow the children to see what they look like in real life. The materials will overlap across multiple areas in my classroom. They will not only be using science skills, but also in the dramatic play and math areas. They will be able to use the puppets to enhance their vocabulary while acting out the insects.
They can then use the knowledge of bugs and insects, that they learned using these materials to investigate the world; in the playground, at park and the environment.
