Science concepts can be difficult to understand. In biology, we learn how our body functions and how other organisms function alongside us in the world. This can be difficult for many students to understand.
Allowing students to create their own model that reflects their creativity and interpretation of science concepts, helps to build problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of science. They use pom poms, Sharpies, pipe cleaners and bags to create models that reflect their interpretation of processes like cell transport and cellular respiration. Based on limited directions and knowledge of the the processes, they team up with a class member to show what they have learned.
