This new carpet will help my students learn mathematical concepts with hands-on learning while being able to sit in a defined space on the rug during math talks in the whole group. The rug, games, puzzles and other activities will last for years to serve today's students and the students to come. When students are able to physically manipulate mathematical concepts they are able to better understand and apply those mathematical concepts in future math lessons in higher grade levels. In first grade, we are not only laying the foundation for reading but also for mathematical concepts to enable students to build off of these foundations built-in first grade to serve them throughout their educational careers.

About my class
