We have been working to use technology as much as possible this year, as it offers so many amazing opportunities for our students in the classroom -- our school is working to eventually become 1-to-1 with Chromebooks! We have 14 computers for our classroom use now, which is amazing, but we are missing one necessary component: headphones! Headphones would bring our use of technology to the next level!
A class set of headphones will make the difference between sort of using the technology we have, and fully being able to take advantage of it! Several of my students require accommodations such as using Google Voice to read text to them during assignments and assessments. Using this technology has been a lifesaver to those of us who still struggle with reading, but having to go out in the hall to hear it is no fun at all. Imagine if we could all have headphones on, to be able to work independently and focus on what's really important: learning.
One of our standards is listening - and we do a lot of listening to our teacher, and to each other. Having the ability to listen to what others have to say, like experts in their fields who give TED Talks, documentaries about other children and how they live around the world, and music that could be the backdrop of our creative inspiration is only possible if we have the resources. We are a high poverty school and could really use a helping hand. Won't you consider helping us out?
