After having taught at the middle school level, I have several books that are meant for that age group. However, I want to expand my library to have more upper level texts for the high school students I will be teaching next year. I have chosen a variety of texts about different areas of history, fiction and nonfiction, and even geography skills so that there can be something for every student. I will allow students to check these books out and when they return the books, I can refer them to similar books if they enjoyed them, or to different ones if they did not enjoy it. In the end, they will be reading outside of school which is ideal to develop their literacy skills.
