Third grade is a pivotal year, students are exposed to more complex math concepts like expanded notation, equivalent fractions, and multiplication. Place value, equivalent fractions, arrays, factors, and multiplication are just a few of the new vocabulary words my students will be exposed to this year. By allowing them to touch ones, tens and hundreds, construct an array, and see the factors within a multiplication equation, my students will not only "get the big picture", but will also be able to apply their learning to word problems These manipulatives will enhance my student's learning experience, and make learning math fun and enjoyable!
