When students have the materials and tools in the classroom to help them focus, calm, and organize their thoughts, they are more likely to remain in the classroom and actively learning. When students have positive and productive outlets for their energy and their feelings, it leads to fewer power struggles, less disruptive behavior, and increased achievement. By providing classroom toolboxes and safe spaces for my team, we will reduce the number of disciplinary incidents, increase students' feeling of safety and comfort in the classroom, and provide students with the tools they need to learn. The tools I want to provide for my students are as follows. Fidgets give students something to help them maintain focus. Yoga mats and bean bag chairs provide a safe and calming area for students to complete work or take a short break. Bouncy bands help students who need movement to have a quiet outlet for their energy. All of these tools together help to create a comfortable, safe, home-like environment that is conducive to positive relationships, growth, and learning.
