This will be my second year teaching. I teach 5th grade in a low income, Title 1 school. All students receive free breakfast & lunch everyday at our school & I or a parent supply a midmorning snack. The picture shows some of the supplies my students received when they entered the classroom at the beginning of the year. They were so excited to get new pencils, markers, crayons, notebooks, & other supplies. I spent all summer collecting books & posters to complete my classroom and make it both fun & educational for my incoming students. I quickly learned that these students had many needs & a clothes drive provided them with clothes to supplement the little they had. I spend my Saturday mornings at garage sales buying supplies for my classroom & my students.
We had an amazing year and I was so sorry to see my students leave, but so happy they were all graduating to middle school.
I am now collecting for next year.
