This project is a mainstay in the classroom and has been for years. It is done at the end of the anatomy unit as a test of knowledge, and a hands on experience with various organ systems we spent time learning about during the unit. Students not only dissect, but discuss the various parts of pigs and use it as a tool to compare human anatomy to that of a pig.
The lab provides students with hands-on experience dissecting a mammalian organism and synthesizing the information used in their class discussions effectively and appropriately.
The lab also gives students access to high-level curriculum appropriate materials that prepare them for their state examinations.
