Our school is transitioning to Guided Math. One principle of Guided Math is that students are divided into small groups, no more than 5 students. Each group rotates through different stations. At one station students work directly with the teacher. Due to the small number of students, students receive more individualized instruction. This provides a richer learning environment for the student. The teacher is able to catch and correct student misconceptions immediately. Another station provides students with access to technology. These tablets will allow students to engage with various software applications that are tailored to their academic strengths and deficits. These applications maximize student growth because they provide adaptive learning.
