Fractions are a tough standard to master. Students need to be able to visualize fractions before they can get an abstract understanding of fractions. The manipulatives I have selected will help students break down the essential meaning of fractions. They will be able to use them in order to compare and contrast fractions, determine benchmark fractions, and to create multiple equivalent fractions. These manipulatives will help them gain knowledge and move towards more abstract thinking about fractions. Fractions are used in everyday life! Students can use that knowledge and apply that knowledge in their jobs or later on in their college careers.
