I teach in a high school setting where upwards of 90% of my students are on Free and reduced lunch. For many of them, we (their teachers) are the only consistent thing in their lives. We service students in grades 9-12. I work part of my day in a self-contained special education classroom with students who have learning, cognitive and emotional disabilities. My class is focused on math skills that will help them pass their End of Course Asssessment in order to graduate. The other part of my day I am in a teamed Algebra class where I also work with students who have a Cognitive, Learning, or Emotional Disability. I love what I do and getting to help students who need a little more focus!
