Creating a learning environment that will fit all the individual needs of my students is my number one goal as a kindergarten teacher. 50% of my students are English Language Learners, two students fall within the autism spectrum, all of my students have specific needs that need to be met. With so many different aspects to our day keeping their attention can be difficult, regardless if its a whole class lesson or an individual desk activity. Furniture like wobble chairs, balance balls and cushions will give students choice in the classroom that fulfill their needs. Choices like these will give students a sense of citizenship in our classroom and will help create a welcoming, safe environment.
My project will make a difference for their individual sense of well-being and start them on the right foot to succeed throughout their educational career.
