My students with special needs not only require additional support in their academic classes, but also need a tranquil location where they can go in the school to find a safe place to regroup. These items will enable me to create a calm and serene area where students will bring themselves back to a place where they are able to return to class.
Currently in my school, there is not an area available to students where they can go to refocus their bodies and minds. This space including a room divider, a rug, chairs, a tower fan, CD player, lamps, fidgets and music will give them a safe place to be without disrupting other students in the general education classrooms. They will also have the opportunity to gain the coping skills that they need so that they can find emotional and academic success in the future.
About my class
