My physical education students share the gymnasium/auditorium with another class having twice as many students and not enough resources for everyone to use. Keeping the students active is the goal of a physical education teacher, but not having the tools to keep them active is the problem. For many students this is the only exercise or game sports many of them will see until high school.
With many of the equipment and balls we use being old and damaged , some being older then some staff members we do our best using what we can. Now that our budgets have been slashed beyond belief we only receive $100 for student supplies and equipment which does not go very far. Our students have no playground equipment and during recess play tag and run around which has lead to injuries, having recess equipment would allow students to utilize the skills they learned in class, and bring them to the playground. With having this equipment our students will be more active and safer than in previous years making for a healthier future.
