My students are diverse, passionate and resilient. They come from all over Oakland and 79% receive free or reduced lunch, which means they are from homes with some financial difficulties. Many have jobs after school, care for younger siblings, and do not have the materials they need to be successful. In spite of these challenges, they come to class excited to learn, and driven to succeed. They are concerned about the problems they see in the world and want their education to enable them to develop solutions using science and technology.

About my class
