We will read the book and analyze the academic vocabulary. We will compare and contrast home Language with the language of the classroom (Language of success). We will create a personal thesaurus and utilize the new vocabulary in our daily conversations. We will analyze the different ways the author SHOWS us what the character is feeling. We will then apply those strategies to our own writing. We will compare and contrast characters, and how the story would be different if told from a different point of view. We will also apply details from the book to learn about WWII and list some causes and effect the war had on children.
