The students at my school and in my classroom come from Low Socioeconomic homes. Most live in government assisted housing and all receive free breakfast and lunch through the school. We have a large population in our building who also receive food assistance on the weekend (known as the backpack program). In my class alone last year this was 6 out of the 19 students I had. Often our classes are large (30+ students) and our building ranges from K-4. I have taught 2nd-4th in my building. Our families are not very involved and our students do not often have access to technology at home. The only exposure they receive is in the school. Often times this means we are having to teach them technology skills outside of their normal technology block. With all this against them, our students are very motivated to learn using technology however we are limited to the materials we have. Our classes only have 4 student computers.
