These novels will help my students regain a love for reading. Most of my students only read independently for the Accelerated Reader program, if they read novels at all. I want to bring high interest novels into my classroom, and help my students become life long readers. Giving students a choice in what they read is my first step.
Bringing novels back into the classroom is the first step. If I want to create a loving relationship with books for my students, I need books that will interest them and hold their attention. I want them to talk about books with one another, and to be excited about what they read. My hopes are to implement student driven literature circles in my classroom, and teach students to find what they love to read. Bringing novels back into the classroom is the first step in my journey.
