All our students want to create their own music, and technology helps to accomplish this goal. Creation is a process that is easier for children if they have the immediate reference of what they are creating. We are limited in the number and type of instruments in the classroom, and this limits the music they can produce. With the technology of iPads, children can explore and create musical pieces with sounds and rhythms that are new to them. And at the same time, there is a significant possibility of enthusiastic collaboration among all students.
With iPads in hand, the combination of the instruments in the class and the virtual instruments available on the iPad are unrestricted. The iPads allow for the creation and saving of the students' music so that it can be reviewed and analyzed by the students. Playing live instruments does not allow for this type of collaboration. The use of technology enables the implementation of new pedagogical approaches that raise the instruction and education of our students.
