My students learn best when learning is engaging and hands-on. I am requesting manipulatives and games so my students can use them to better understand concepts in math. Rather than just doing computations and workbook pages, they can dive into a better understanding that math is more than just memorization and worksheets. My students have 504s and IEPs, and they have various individual learning needs. These manipulatives and games will not only encourage my students but will also help with differentiation.
Studies prove that hands-on learning helps students with their creativity, attitude, perception, and logic. They are the best way for students to not only learn new material but also to retain new information. I have attended various professional development classes where these tools were used. Even for me, they made learning more engaging, fun, and easier to learn. I cannot wait to use these tools with my students!
