Having these supplies in my classroom will ultimately eliminate feelings of shame, behavioral issues, and frustration. Often times I teach children whose parents may not be able to afford supplies for them (especially some of the required items placed on school lists). As a caring and supportive educator I try to purchase these items myself, but it becomes very costly. Making sure children feel well prepared is half the battle in creating a positive mindset and building self confidence that says, "I can and I will do it." My students should not have to worry about where they are going to get pencils, pens, notebooks etc. Materials such as pencils, notebooks, rulers, glue etc will have a huge impact on my student's ability to learn, focus, and fully grasp concepts. My goal is to have supplies available to each of my students so that they may actively and confidently participate in daily activities including but not limited to; creating interactive notebooks, hands on lessons, and basic writing skills.
