Although my student want to learn, it is very difficult to grasp new science concepts without manipulatives or resources. Having tangible, usable, interactive resources will help them engage science in a way that isn't possible with worksheets.
The projector will help transform the classroom into a planetarium, engaging students in identifying and naming constellations, interacting with sizes of stars and distance, and considering the way we have learned about our environment. From ancient myths about stars to our modern-day understanding of astrophysics, students will be able to experience the reasons we came to past conclusions and the ways we furthered our knowledge.
Other items will help students participate in their own learning. Magnets, magnifying glasses, crayons, and glue are all necessary for students to be successful learners. These materials help them interact with lessons and demonstrate their understanding.
