I currently teach a self-contained special education class with students ranging from 5-8th grade. These students are so near and dear to my heart and I just want to give them everything! Everyday, they come to school so eager to learn and I am equally eagar to foster that excitement to ignite knowledge, spark a passion, and light the way for their futures. It is my hope that they continue to be excited to learn.
I work at a Title I school in Chicago, IL in the West Pullman neighborhood of on the Far South Side which is a low socioeconomic area plagued with crime and violence. 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch and over 10% of our school's students are living in shelters. Despite the challenges they encounter outside of school, they remain resilient and focused not only in the classroom but as future world leaders. I couldn't be prouder!
