The "Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales" series help my ESL students and struggling readers to understand key events and patterns in American history. Simplified language, engaging visuals, and captivating storytelling will reach my students not only academically, but emotionally.
The more my students relate personally to history, the more they will learn. These graphic novels present the leaders and events of American history as lively, funny, and adventurous. In my class, students will use these in stations, spending 15 minutes of a class reading the comic pages aloud to each other and answering questions. As well, students in tutorials will read "Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales" as a way to refresh their knowledge of important concepts.
