Students need to move from concrete to semi-concrete to the abstract when working with math concepts. First graders really need these concrete manipulatives in their hands to move and discover number sense, patterns, addition, and subtraction. These tubs and hands-on manipulatives will help my students with the concrete stage of learning. Requested materials and kits include Make a Splash, WonderFoam Dominoes, a 120 Number board, Ten-Frames, Write-On/Wipe-Off Number Mats, Unifix Cubes and an I Sea 10! game.
The tubs and manipulatives will also double as "Morning Tubs" for students to think outside of the box and have a sense of play with the manipulatives. While students are entering, unpacking, and beginning their school day, they will have a tub of manipulatives with which to create, discover, and play. Then in math groups, they will use them as math tools. The best of both worlds!
