After touring large, successful work environments such as Google, SparkFun, and Galvanize I studied closely what made them productive, fun, and the best learning/work spaces. What I noticed was a theme of flexible seating or different seating options. One idea of which my classroom is lacking. I currently have rows of monotonous desks with little to no option for kids to move freely to work. I would like to change that for my students.
My goal is to create several different options such as wobble chairs, bean bag chairs, lowered coffee tables with the ability to sit on the floor, exercise balls, and many more options. My plan is to remove more than half of the desks in my room to make room for more options. I knew I would also need a way for kids to store and carry their work while they freely move around the room and felt book boxes where the best to meet this need.
In order to complete this goal, I knew I needed supplies and thus turned to the best place I know!
