My classroom library needs a makeover! My students need books that are updated, interesting, and intact. My students and I use books for the majority of any given day. They are read, reread, handed off, and used for projects. They are borrowed from former students, taken home, and even given away at times. Our school library offers more of a selection, but many of the books are outdated as well. Our school does not have enough computers for individual use, therefore, we do not use them for a book source. My students rely on my library to find the majority of their books. Teaching children to read and love what they read is my number one priority. This project will add a variety of books to my classroom library and allow the students to choose books they will love. The students made a list of books not only for their own interest, but also for those in my future classes. The children and I decided our library mostly needs poetry and informational books because these are read most often. But they also included some fictional favorites on the list. Thank you for choosing this project and believing in reading.
