Having big books to read to my students will help them learn more about the world and more about reading strategies. Since big books have large illustrations and print, my students will not have to struggle to see the words or pictures when we have our large group time. My students are very young and learning to read is a very important skill they will need to become successful.
By modeling how to sound out words that are in a big book, my students get a real life example of how to sound out words that may be tough for them to read.
