These books will allow my students to take a journey in the center of creative and fun standards-based, integrated learning. Each picture book will assist in teaching ELA standards (such as character traits and the interaction between characters) while also lending itself to bridging the gap between cross-curricular lines. For example, as we learn about the Earth's biomes and environmental features in Science, we can visualize and discuss the similarities between real life and the picture book Pinduli.
With these new books, my students will be able to deepen their understanding of new concepts as they will reinforce the new information! Having these books in the classroom will increase students' interest in independent reading by allowing the opportunity to re-read books they have enjoyed with their teacher.
